Wow - okay. Something just clicked. Reading your rhetorical examples, I realized that this is exactly the style that ChatGPT uses, over and over again. And not only ChatGPT, but other AI, as well. That could explain even more how it’s able to lead people “down the primrose path” by employing these tactics to increase its effectiveness. Not only does it (and other AI) use certain pacing to create the impression of safety and familiarity, but it’s using rhetorical approaches to architect its authority. It’s not always negative, not always nefarious. But it is there. A whole lot.

That being said, might removing the rhetorical “flair” improve the chances of people being lulled into a false sense of certainty with it?
